Short answer: It depends on the people in question.

To some extent the same holds true for in-person interactions as well. Rather than committing wholeheartedly to one approach or the other, online *can* be a good place to start before moving to in person - if one is careful. On the flip side, online can be a good way to continue a relationship that began in person if distance - or other factors - would otherwise make regular interactions a major hurdle.

Someone will have to make that cuddle pile bigger. I’m sure there are willing volunteers in the audience. 🙂

Sadly, the world is not as uniformly organized as some here would like to believe. A simple web search of the DDLG age brackets shows just how open to interpretation each age group/role is. At the end of the day, what really matters is that the partners involved are satisfied that they have a dynamic/relationship that works for them. Whether or not they follow or don’t follow labels should be a secondary, or even tertiary, priority compared to being on the same wavelength. Clear communication can bypass labels and help to lay a solid foundation.
